Faith gives you the means to deliberately progress along any path, no matter how far away the outcome may be. There is no such thing as a task too big for someone with faith. Before one has power to move mountains by speaking, one must have faith to move mountains one shovel at a time.
Faith chops interminable challenges into discrete, daily, consistent progress. Faith is what enables a person to face infinite challenges while knowing their finite limits. Faith transcends all terminal tasks.
Faith is not only the key to particularly difficult or lengthy paths. Faith is required to bridge the gap between finite action and infinite outcomes. Faith gives you the means to derive finite actions from any outcome, no matter how grand it might seem in scope, timeline, or probability:
These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. (Hebrews 11:13)
Faith is the only means to keep moving in the face of an unending journey. The gospel is an infinite journey. Following God’s will requires walking in unending paths, as this is what the “eternal” in “eternal life” means.
