Finally, it is important to address the importance of specific attribution. Truth produces good fruit. However, the possession of good fruit doesn’t imply that your assignment of what caused it is correct or complete.
If you misattribute a correct conclusion to a given premise, you will hold that premise as improving you, when in reality it could be detrimental. For example, suppose that God tells you that the U.S. Constitution is inspired. You could conclude that everything that the U.S. government does is sanctioned by God. That belief would degrade you, and lead to a lower order life than the truth.
Don’t fool yourself into writing off a challenge to one of your beliefs just because you have experienced blessings that you attribute to that belief.
