Submission means to actively and singularly adopt the purpose of the person you submit to. You can’t submit to someone whose purpose you do not know, whose purpose you do not actively adopt, or whose purpose you do not singularly prefer to anything else.
Very few people can describe their purpose. An inability to describe your purpose guarantees that you are living far below your privilege. Optimizing your desired outcome requires knowing at what you are aiming. Without a fixed target, how can you prioritize the decisions you make and actions you take? How can you weigh the relative cost and benefit of different options?
If you do not know what your overarching purpose is, you can be sure that it differs from God’s. He knows exactly what he is aiming for, and it cannot be achieved by anyone with energy dedicated to anything else.
