Sincerity is a key to the gate to God. A lot of the distance and inefficacy that we experience with God can be explained by a lack of sincerity. It's a big topic, but I just want to share one story about this. Uh many years ago, I had a roommate who had chronic stomach problems that were very serious
and I felt really bad for him. So one day he asked, it was really bad one day and he asked me if I would pray for him. And I said I would and I just kind of expected what, you know, the normal thing where you shoot up your message and you just kind of go about your business. And um, but I, I was very
concerned uh for my roommate and I really did wish that he could be healed. And if he couldn't be healed, I had a strong desire for him to at least get a break from what was just a constant chronic pain that was often debilitating for him. So I prayed and um in response to that prayer, this was in the
evening, um I spent the whole night, I had incredible stomach pain. And, um, the next day I asked my roommate how he was doing and he, um, he said he felt great. He felt better than he had in years. And he said, um, thanks so much for praying for me. Uh, I, I really, uh, I feel that it, it's your prayers
that made me feel better. I never told him about, uh, my side of the story, but I learned from that experience that we shouldn't pray for people. Um If we aren't willing to bear what we're asking God to relieve them of. And uh we should really think about what we care about and how much we care about
it before we ask God for things so much since then. Uh I've been taught a lot about how these things work and what the mechanics of them are. That's certainly beyond the scope of this short video, but so much of the blessings, God enables us to enable in others for others. I mean, um so much of that
relies on what we are willing to do and experience and go without uh for their benefit. And so if you want more powerful prayers, you should think about the suffering that you're willing to endure so that others uh can be relieved of what they're suffering. And this is a pattern that comes from the savior
