So uh have a billion thoughts on my mind and uh let's just get started. So um a semiconductor is a material that doesn't really conduct electricity until a charge is applied to it, which is kind of weird, but let's just skip all the details of how that works. Um And realize that um revelation is a lot
like uh a semiconductor with your brain being the semiconductor and that minor voltage, the enabling voltage being like the Holy Ghost. And everyone has um all understanding is actuated by God. Um And that's just as true for people that don't believe in him who are actively fighting him and for people
who have never even heard of him as well as for those people who are um let's say fully reconciled to him. Um So uh the Holy Ghost, it's a revelator. It's also uh an actuator, it's also an aggregator. And you've probably never heard the Holy Ghost as an actuator or an aggregator, but you've heard the
word quicken. So the Holy Ghost quickens things and that's a weird old English word that no one uses anymore, but a modern word would be actuate. And so what does actuate, mean. Um It's fun to say you should say it. Uh it, it enables action. It, it makes possible more and better and different than would
otherwise be possible. Um And what's an aggregator? An aggregator is something that, that uh that mixes that, that adheres to what I think of is um sometimes my kids will make crystals um like, like they'll make a sugar solution and hang a string in a jar with a syrup in it and these crystals will form
on the string. So um that, that's kind of like what the Holy Ghost can do and wherever you focus your attention, whatever you attend to your understanding, which is actuated by the Holy Ghost, it will aggregate onto it. So, um by nature, everyone has this gift of understanding, that's what makes us human
. Uh Well, that's a big part of what makes us human, but uh almost no one uses it very well or very fully. And one reason for this is because you can only go so far without uh an intentional understanding of God in a correct understanding of God. And there's a component of that. I'm always talking about
light switches. There's a component of that, that's a regular light switch and there's a component of that, that's a dimmer switch and everything on the dimmer comes after the light switch on this one. So um if you want to understand why it is that people who uh I don't know how to say this in a way
it's not offensive. Uh, I'm sorry that in a way that people won't be offended by, I don't think anything about truth is offensive. Um, it, it's actually offenses is not directional so people assume it is. Um, if you're offended by something it doesn't mean that the, something is bad. You could be bad
. Right. And, and your reaction to, it doesn't indicate if it's good or bad. You have to use other tools to measure that one anyway, the offensive thing here, uh which it's, it's not offensive, but just using the manner of speech is that some people have accumulated much more of what God has to give
than other people have. And uh I don't think that this makes them better in the sense that most people would presume they mean when they, they would say this, when one would say this. Um, but it certainly means that they have accumulated more of what is better from God and he's the source of everything
that's good. So to be angry at that is kind of the same as being angry at, at anything that's good. And to pretend that that doesn't exist, which of course is not good in itself anyway, because some people have more of this than others when you interact with folks like this. Um You get a scatter shot
of thoughts and a lot of times those people will apologize because they'll say Oh, I just, I'm all over the place, um, and being all over the place or having a lot to say, as you suppose, doesn't imply necessarily that what you're saying is, is true or valuable or that, um, yeah, we'll just leave it
at that. Um, but people who have a lot of that will certainly act in this way. And it's really interesting because, um, teaching, teaching is all about going to wherever the person you're teaching is giving them the very next step and where, wherever it is the best place where they could go. And, um
, it's just the next incremental step because all knowledge is incremental and successive. Um, but you need a target in order to do that. And, and if you have a target, if you, if you have a specific person, you're teaching, the Holy Ghost will come in and help you with that and show you exactly where
they are and exactly where you can go and exactly how to do it. Um But if you don't have a target, you, uh, you switch and, and so instead of starting from where they are you, oh, sorry, the camera is like opposite. This is awkward. This is like riding a bike where the, if you've seen those bikes where
the handlebars are reversed. Ok. Uh There we go. Um, instead of going here and giving them the very next step, you start from up here and you're trying to make a connection down. Um, it, it's kind of like lightning except lightning goes up and comes down at the same time and it makes a path. But if you
see in slow motion lightning bolts, you see all these, um, these different paths that, uh, one, they either converge or one makes it first, it's like a race and then once, um, once that, uh, preliminary trajectory is sorted out, then the, the rest of the current flows or however that works, that's what
it looks like at least. Um But um when you're, when you don't have a target and you're not just, you're not just uh relaying or, or persuading or convincing with that very next step, you're trying to bring this down to here and that looks really different. I only have one free hand because it's like
a pyramid, an inverted pyramid. And what you're trying to do is take some extremely high resolution image and you're trying to pull out of that image just what uh a typical person would be ready to understand and you have to query all that and concentrate it and then um compress it and it, it, it calls
to my mind a lot of details about how you do image processing on a computer. Uh I've, I've written programs to do that and, or query information or, you know, these are things that are my jam um professionally. So it's something I've thought about a lot. But, but I think the way I've described it, you
could understand at least a little um without having those experiences. But what ends up happening is to an outsider. It seems like a bunch of disjoint things. But really, what you're trying to do is uh you're trying to speak in a foreign language um and convey a lot more detail, a lot more information
than can be conveyed in that language. And so uh it, it seems like just the scattershot of thought. But as you grow in the spirit, you start to see, I mean, the spirit does an infinitely better job of this than we do as humans. But you, you start to become more accustomed to this sort of thing because
when you get blasted by uh an increment of understanding in a half a second, you can receive information that is so compressed that it might take you a month to ride out in a way that would make sense to anyone else. That's how rich it is. So, um there are benefits and costs to um trying to convey information
like this where I don't know who I'm talking to here and it's all sorts of people. One huge benefit is if we're chatting, face to face. Um Anything that you're not ready to hear would be filtered out of this conversation once I had the displeasure of having someone. Um Well, it's happened many more times
than once, but someone basically said, I don't want to talk to you ever again. And, um, and they said, uh, if I, if I need anything from you, I'll get it from your books or something like this. And, um, you know, I was trying to chew on that because it was kind of early on and a facet of human experience
for me. Um, oh, which is a much more well worn path at this point, that particular facet. But anyways, um, you know, I was trying to process that, but the spirit said, basically, thus, hath it been said amen, right? Um That was the information and I was like, what, what is going on here? Because a lot
of times I'm just kind of uh an ignorant bystander in my own life trying to figure out what the heck is going on. And uh because it's just a flood all the time and um processing that, uh I realized that this is true and I've seen it in so many instances now, not also explicit where there is an immense
benefit to um I wanna say sideways communication, but that has all kinds of connotations. I don't in 10 to convey. Uh But I don't know, hopefully that makes sense. So when I'm, when I'm writing out a book, um I'm not always, uh I'm not typically writing that for a person. I wrote uh the, the, the third
section of Glory of God's Intelligence for a specific person that I did not know, but I was shown and I was shown how they felt and I was writing a very specific message to them. I, I saw how they, I felt, how they would feel in reading that section. And so I was able to craft that for them. Um And I
wrote teaching, uh teaching for commandments and doctrines, teaching. What is that book called? The Red one? Um Sorry, it's, I've been up since 1 a.m. It's been a long morning. Um Anyway, um I wrote that for, for a specific specific person who I know. I know well, and also they have not read that book
. So that's funny. So that's a lot of work. That's years worth of work. Uh And it's OK, it's helped a lot of people. It, it helped me, I didn't write it for that. But anyway, um other than that, all the other books are not written for, for any particular person. And so it's an experience where I get
to interact with the spirit as if I'm having a conversation with myself, which is, which sounds really weird. But the point is there's no impedance other than whatever impedance I have. So, um anyone can read those books and get whatever out of them that they can get out of them. And that's a beautiful
thing. It's a wonderful thing. And so there are different costs and benefits. Uh some of the writers in the book of Mormon, uh talk about the power of preaching by, uh, I guess the ease of preaching by the power of the spirit compared to writing things. And they kind of apologize for limitations in writing
because they say it's way harder than speaking. And, um, I get that, um, there are costs and benefits and tradeoffs in all things. And, uh, anyway, um, we'll leave that at, at how it is. I guess the Holy Ghost is a huge subject. I've got three books on the topic that are written in some form. Um But
one interesting thing about uh these videos. So it's the crumbs that come off the table. Um I try really hard not to write blogs or make videos. I try to focus all of my efforts on writing which I do. Uh And sometimes there's just stuff that overflows and needs to be said. But um the rule of thumb is
I can't make a video about anything or write a blog post on anything that I haven't already put into books. So, um this is stuff that is much more fully covered in those books and better cover. But uh I'm just gonna bang out a couple of videos here and put them in the queue and you'll see them days after
