0:00:00 - 0:00:23I had a a little break I took and I, I quickly, I was curious how that John video was going over. And so I checked the analytics on it and here they are. And I thought this was a wonderful quick example of um well, the interface between the Peredo distribution and some gospel topics. A while back a long
0:00:23 - 0:00:47while back, it feels like I made a pres presentation called teaching gospel topics with the pendulum. I think that's a very important presentation. Anyway, um when you teach things, you can, you can attack it topically, uh just sort of summarizing things under headings and then you can teach it in a
0:00:47 - 0:01:10more applied way from a problem perspective. Problem solution pairs the issue with that is so the the the positive about doing it that way is that it's, it's the relevance of it is immediately perceptible to the audience as long as they're in that problem. The drawback of that approach is that you might
0:01:10 - 0:01:36have to pull on massive amounts of prerequisite understanding and when we're addressing things that are buried under layers of false traditions, um and also require a whole lot of information that's never been revealed then that's really tricky. So I try to do a balance between those. Um, and one of
0:01:36 - 0:02:05the downsides of the doing things topically. So the positive is you can, you can lay it out a lot better than you can doing it in a, in a problem solution pair. But the, the drawback is you're really depending on, um, your audience's ability to process a large amount of information and hang on even though
0:02:05 - 0:02:29almost all of it is going to be new and you're really relying on their faith because it's really hard to see the value of that as you go through it. And so I flipped back and forth to try to hit things from all angles. But anyway, at some point, I hope to make a presentation, uh called something like
0:02:29 - 0:02:48teaching gospel principles with the Pareto distribution, the Pareto distribution. You could, you can't say that if you know the PTO distribution, you know the gospel. But you can say that if you don't know the Pero distribution, you have no idea about the gospel. And that's a, that's a strong statement
0:02:48 - 0:03:15. I realized that I, I can make a very strong case for it anyway. So maybe that will come out at some point. I, I can't set aside the things I'm doing to work on that just yet. But every day is different and you never know when the, when the orders change, we'll say not the hors D the HS D's um anyway
0:03:14 - 0:03:34, back to this. So here we have a preto distribution and you can look that up if you don't, if you're not familiar with it. But what I wanted to do is use this to just show a, a few ideas. So I made this 2.5 hour video, walking, verse by verse through John Nine. And here's what's interesting about this
0:03:34 - 0:04:04to me, people saw that this was 2.5 hours long and they still clicked on it and yet it only took, does this not work like it does on my phone? There we go. It took three minutes to get rid of 60 some percent, 64% of the audience. It only took three minutes to get rid of. Now after that, the attrition
0:04:04 - 0:04:31is pretty, pretty slow. OK? But the point is around the end, there were maybe 10% of people left 10%. OK? So what's, what's there are several things that are interesting about this to me. OK. So value is a really hard thing and people just I'm saying humans not like you all, but I'm good at this. I'm
0:04:31 - 0:05:02saying humans are really bad at assessing value. OK? But that badness is consistent. What I mean is you this pattern you will see on every single thing ever as far as the ability of humans to, to correctly perceive value. You're going to see this, you're going to see this Ok. So, um, this presentation
0:05:02 - 0:05:25for 2.5 hours straight, I recorded thing ideas that, that, um, no one has ever heard of from the book of John in chapter nine. I, I laid it out. Ok. And, um, you can't get that anywhere else, although it's out now. And so you're going to see echoes of it through time. Although very few people will almost
0:05:24 - 0:05:51, no one will trace that back to the source. Um You, you're going to see echoes because that's the way these things work anyways. What's interesting to me though is that you get this big drop off, right? That's not a surprise to me. But then there's this constant but very slow attrition. So, you know
0:05:51 - 0:06:12, maybe someone got here and then they had to make a sandwich or something and the baby was crying. But isn't it interesting that the folks who made it through the first hurdle of value measurement, they still dropped off over a long time and it, it doesn't start to get constant until like the last hour
0:06:11 - 0:06:35. But even then there's attrition. Now, let's see how to, how to, how to kind of extract this more. But while keeping it brief, so instead of a video like and OK, and, and in case it's not obvious, um I hope to say this many times, but maybe this is the first time you've heard me say it, these patterns
0:06:35 - 0:06:59that I'm showing you when we talk about uh um discerning truth and evaluating value and all these other things, they are true. Whether you me anyone else is part of the equation or not, it doesn't matter. These are eternal principles and when you see the patterns and you learn the associations that you're
0:06:58 - 0:07:28going to see these everywhere. So um so if you, if you take time and you replace it with other things like, well, I mean, time in a video, maybe the easiest thing to replace that with is time in life or circumstances in life or degree of trials in life or period of suffering, duration of suffering, intensity
0:07:27 - 0:07:54of suffering. Um If you replace it with intensity of uh fasting and prayer or intensity of scripture study or any kind of study or, or, or, or it doesn't matter, you could be talking about uh the skill of a plumber and maybe this X axis is the amount of, of um intentional training that they go through
0:07:54 - 0:08:17. You know, whether that be a class or just every day on the job, you're thinking, how can I do this better? And that maybe this is a measure of the degree to which you try to do things better compared to your peers. And what you'll find is this happens, this stratification happens, this is a measurement
0:08:16 - 0:08:36of differentiation between people. Now again, y you know, some of you who are just looking to find something to fight about are gonna say, oh he's saying that people that watched his whole video are better than the people who didn't. Well, I think that, you know, it's not a surprise to hear me say I
0:08:36 - 0:08:52wouldn't make these videos if I didn't think that that is at least close to true. It's correlated. Now, you could be a hardcore and maybe you just have nothing left, uh, nothing better to do or you just have it playing in the background and you have a job where that doesn't disturb you and you made it
0:08:52 - 0:09:11to the end and like the next video you're gonna watch is about the Kardashians or whatever and who cares? Right. Well, I don't think that person is necessarily going to be better at life than, than this person. But yeah, in general, I think that that pattern is true. However, that does not matter, talking
0:09:11 - 0:09:35about general principles, this stratification happens and this is how it happens because there are people out there that will spend 2.5 hours watching a video like this. There are people out there who will spend way, way more effort trying to become better than these folks who if you know, it's hilarious
0:09:35 - 0:09:57, you click on a 2.5 hour video and then you stay for three minutes. What were you expecting? Right. What were you expecting? And so, um you know, doubtless some of these people were ready to hang on for 2.5 hours and it just didn't catch their fancy. Ok. Fine. But a lot of those people, that's how they
0:09:57 - 0:10:18live their lives. They go into 2.5 hour encounters saying I only have three minutes, you know, or I'm gonna click through three times and then that's good. I get it. I've, I've gotten everything you can get out of this. Right. That attitude is, is prevalent. The majority of people you can see 66%. A
0:10:18 - 0:10:43lot of people are like that. And the problem is there's just a tremendous slice of value in life. I'd say much more than half of the value available in life is not available to those people because you can't fit giant things through small holes. So you have to be willing to go all in on something, maybe
0:10:43 - 0:11:05not this video again, whatever. Ok. But you have to go all in on things to find things that are worth going all in on. This is a, I'm gonna talk more about this later too. But, but you've got to be an intense person to get to squeeze the joy out of life. There's no alternative and it's fair enough to
0:11:05 - 0:11:26say, yeah, ok. But I haven't found something worth that yet and we'll address that. But if, if it's off limits to you, if you're like, well, all I've got, you know, I will never learn something that I can't learn from a three minute podcast or, um, I'll never look into something that I can't listen to
0:11:26 - 0:00:00while I'm driving to work because that's the only window I give to learning. Well, you're in big trouble. You're in big trouble. Or I'll never, I'll never, uh, I'll never foster relationships with people, whatever kind of relationship. I'm not talking about romantic stuff, relationships with people.
0:00:00 - 0:12:06Unless I meet them while I'm doing all the other things I'm gonna do anyway. You know, work whatever. Well, you're, all those things limit the window and you have to be willing. So, even if you think that this presentation is total garbage and worthless, I hope that you're in a place where you believe
0:12:06 - 0:12:29that somewhere out there, there's a 2.5 hour video w worth watching and, uh, that God can teach you tremendous things because if you don't believe that you're going to miss them and he can, by the way, and there are, there are things out there worth sacrificing 2.5 hours to learn to be exposed to. Ok
0:12:29 - 0:12:47. So those are just some thoughts, but here's the pero, there it is. And, and again, there's, there are going to be deviations in the details of this. There's, there's somebody out there that, like walked away from their computer and forgot to turn it off and there's someone who really wanted to watch
0:12:46 - 0:13:12this, but they're volunteer firemen and the, the sirens went off and they had to go or whatever. But looking at this generally speaking what the predator distribution is, is it's a measurement of, it's a measurement of desire for godliness in life. And you could break that down into very secular, uh
0:13:12 - 0:13:29, fulfillment, but that's what it is. And there are a few people on this planet who really desire God and most people don't desire him at all and everybody else is somewhere in between. And that's the preto distribution.
