Describe part seven sanctification. We talked about justification in the last segment. And in this one, we're gonna talk about sanctification. This ties in a previous theme of obedience and effort. We saw this before, ignore the man behind the curtain. Um In alma 714, we read now I say unto you that
ye must repent and be born again for the spirit saith. If you are not born again, you cannot inherit the kingdom of heaven. Therefore come and be baptized unto repentance that ye may be washed from your sins that you may have faith on the lamb of God who taketh away the sins of the world who is mighty
to save and to cleanse from all unrighteousness. Now, when you are forgiven of your sins, you are cleansed of the sins that you know about at the time, but that does not make you one with God. There are many things that remain that are different between you and God and closing that gap is what salvation
is all about. There are people that push back and say that it's impossible to become more like God. So why even try? It's the whole reason He came. That's why it's not about what is possible for you. As Jesus said, all things are possible with God. It's impossible for man, but not for God. He is mighty
to save and declines, not just from the unrighteousness that you know about that you repent of when you come to Him, but all the unrighteousness that still exists between you and Him under the law of Moses. There is a distinction in ordinances that addressed willful sin and ordinances that addressed
sins of ignorance. You have to learn about how you deviate from God and make those changes as well to truly come unto Him or to continue to come unto Him or to come unto Him in a greater degree. So there's a distinction between being washed clean of past sin and uh becoming holy and holiness that consists
of learning more about God and reconciling your life to the new things. You know, just as you have reconciled your life to the prior things you knew. And so listen to these two verses and see if you can make the distinction. This is from 3527 and no unclean thing can enter into his kingdom. Therefore
, nothing endeth into his rest. Save it. Be those who have washed their garments in my blood because of their faith and their repentance of all their sins and their faithfulness unto the end. Now, this is the commandment, repent all ye ends of the earth and come unto me and be baptized in my name that
ye may be sanctified by the reception of the holy ghost that you may stand spotless before me. At the last day, there's three components in this passage. One is forsaking sins that you've been taught about or that you've decided to address in your conversion. The second component of this is learning
more about God. And um this is how you're sanctified. You receive the Holy ghost, which teaches you more about Jesus. And then you live up to those new increments that you receive. And then the third component is to continue this process unto the end. So what is the end? It can mean different things
, but it certainly includes when you die. Um I think that we've already talked enough about how we're distance or dis disassociated from God while we're living in willful sin. But here's a, here's a verse about that. OK? Now, I want to diagram out this progress towards God. OK? So you start out here
where through some change of, of perception, maybe somebody has taught you something or you've seen some example of someone or something in your life. But through some means, you've now learned that there are parts of you that do not accord with God and that's sin. And then you address that by repenting
and that's justification. OK? So you've come up to the stature of Christ as far as you currently know Him, but that's not the end, you can keep going and you're meant to keep going because in the next level of awareness of how Jesus is, there's a deviation between you and Him. No, this differs from the
initial one in that you don't dwell in this state because the second it's revealed to you, you repent by making yourself like Jesus is if you delay in that, you turn away from that, you ignore it or you rebel or you delay, then you return to your initial state where you're no longer justified with God
, you turn out of the way and you leave the path, but that's not the way it's meant to go. You're supposed to just continue trusting in God just as you already were and change to become like He is at the, at the level that's now revealed to you. So this just keeps going and there never has to be a state
where you are out of accord with how God has revealed himself to you. Now, you might be asking yourself what's up with this picture and you got good and evil. Well, as you get to know God, he's gonna increase the resolution of reality. So you're going to become aware of a lot more than you were aware
of before. And I've made other videos about how our understanding of good and evil changes as we acquire more light. And you just have to keep reconciling yourself to God or I should say remain reconciled to God. This is what it means in scripture. When you say retain, when you see retain a remission
of your sins. This is what it means. It means that you just keep going without breaks without times where you're out of alignment with God. And it's, it's interesting to me to see how this looks like a cross that increases in size as you go up. These are the, the ups and the downs, all right, this this
process of gradual becoming more like God. It's, it's all over the place in the scripture. So in first John two, we read hereby, we do know that we know Him if we keep his commandments, he that saith I know him and keepeth not his commandments is a liar and the truth is not in Him but whoso keepeth his
word in him verily is the love of God perfected hereby know we that we are in Him. He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also. So to walk even as he walked and this is describing this, this path. It's so John's talking about so too often when the gospel is discussed, it's discussed in terms of
what we get. We are the goodies, show me the gold. And the fact is that salvation is not about what you get. It's about what you've become. It's about the effect of God and not just his idea, people do that too. They reduce God to an idea. So I believe in God. What does that mean? Well, it's, it's a
thought that gives me comfort when times are tough. We just, we just gotta trust that everything will be ok. No, no, that is not the point at all. That's a wishing well, go get yourself a wishing well. Or genie God is um a being who is comprised of um properties and those properties have effects and
as you learn about and become like He is, you will also draw nearer to Him in your nature. You will acquire those same properties to some degree. And as you do, you'll receive the effects of that and you do get stuff, you get amazing things. But what you'll find in that path is that it's not about what
you get more than anything, it's about what you're now able to give. And that is what it's like to become like he is. We've seen this scripture before. This is maybe the best one I can think of to close out this series come unto Christ and be perfected in Him, deny yourselves of all ungodliness. And
if ye shall deny yourselves of all ungodliness and love God with all your might, mind and strength, then is His grace sufficient for you. And again, if ye by the grace of God are perfect in Christ and deny not his power, then ye are sanctified in Christ by the grace of God through the shedding of the
