0:00:00 - 0:00:24Studies and writing this morning, I came across Isaiah 5211 uh looking for something else. But as I read it, um as frequently is the case and an impression to take a closer look. And I just want to share some insights um whether you agree with my thoughts here or not. Um I hope that what we talk about
0:00:23 - 0:00:48here will give you some principles for your own scripture study with the goal as always of drawing closer to the Lord through understanding things uh about him a little clearer and also how to apply that to your own life. So Isaiah 5211 in the King James reads, depart, ye depart, ye go out from then
0:00:48 - 0:01:13touch no unclean thing go ye out of the midst of her. Be ye clean that bear the vessels of the Lord. Now, if you were to ask anyone what this means, um if they don't just scratch their heads, they will probably say something about the priests. And it was the duty of the priests to in the in the days
0:01:13 - 0:01:44of, of the Tabernacle of Moses. Um Well, it was the Lord's Tabernacle but Moses was uh his instrument at that time. And the priests had the duty to break down that portable temple and carry it around and set it up. And then they also had the duty, some of them to actually use these vessels, the candlestick
0:01:42 - 0:02:15and the, the snuffer and the, the altar of incense and the sacrificial altar and all of these instruments that they had as part of that set up. Um They, it was the priest's duty to officiate in those rights, using that equipment. And so they would say you need to be uh worthy of that responsibility touch
0:02:14 - 0:02:41. No unclean thing means to not sin, be clean, be ceremonially pure. There were rituals that they had to do, they had to wash themselves in a basin before officiating and so forth. Um And that's all good. And there are tons of lessons that could be learned from that. In fact, you could go as far as saying
0:02:40 - 0:03:07, if you have not yet achieved sinless. Um Maybe there's no more important thing to work on. No more important thing to uh to study in the scriptures. Um But what ends up happening is that in our journey towards God, sometimes we know exactly what the obstacle is. And if you don't, I encourage you to
0:03:07 - 0:03:36seek out to the Lord, he's extremely willing to show you. But you know, more often than not, the real obstacle is our willingness to have courage, have the courage to see things as they are and to have an honest admission of our standing with God. But in our sense towards Him, oftentimes, obstacles are
0:03:36 - 0:04:02much like they are if you have ever been to a climbing gym, uh or scaled a real rock wall, a lot of times, you know, you need to go up. But the path right in front of you, there's something you just can't seem to reach. And it turns out that in our sent to God much like climbing up a wall. The objective
0:04:01 - 0:04:31is not to grab something with your right hand or put your left foot on a specific ledge. The objective is to move up and it turns out that no matter what you do with your body, with a specific body part, if you're managing to move up, you're probably going in the right direction and you may just make
0:04:31 - 0:04:58it easier for you to grab the thing that was previously out of your reach. Now, what I'm not saying is that there are shortcuts or some other way, if something is wrong in your life, if it's out of alignment with God, the absolute positive, only way forward is to address that. But if there are more than
0:04:58 - 0:05:28one, if there, if there's more than one obstacle, more than one facet of your life, that is not perfectly aligned with the best that you can imagine with what you sincerely believe God would do in your place. Work on that too, not instead of, but as well as do everything to move up. And as you do that
0:05:28 - 0:05:58, you'll find that everything is connected to everything else and as you ascend ascension in anything will make it easier to ascend in anything else. So the principle I want to talk about here is not just what does Isaiah 5211 mean, but I want to use that as an example to show you something that's all
0:05:58 - 0:06:31over the scriptures, especially in the Old Testament. And that is this sometimes a passage of scripture will mean two different things at the same exact time. And we could talk about this in various uh flavors. But I want to specifically address how this applies to uh this sense of uh Hebrew words. And
0:06:31 - 0:06:55you can take a sentence in Hebrew in using the different senses of the words, the different definitions of the words. You can actually build completely different sentences that are still 100% accurate. And yet in English, they would, they would seem so different that maybe you couldn't even connect the
0:06:55 - 0:07:29two. Um There's a lot that could be said about this, but just to try to keep it simple ideas about God flow together, the closer you get to Him, the further you are the more separate they seem. And uh English is a language English is not the most powerful language as far as expressing ideas about or
0:07:29 - 0:08:01from God. Now, uh I'm I'm trying very hard to keep this concise. There are some people who believe that other human languages are much closer and, uh, easier to express ideas from or about God in those other languages. I don't really buy that argument. I think what you'll find is that some languages
0:08:00 - 0:08:27do a good job with some ideas and other languages do a good job with other ideas. And I think you would find like I do that. It's not too far from maybe reading a work of literature in English versus Spanish or Italian or French. And noticing that some of these languages have much cleaner idioms for
0:08:26 - 0:08:51describing certain ideas. It's just easier or it's more beautiful or it's richer. I found uh in being bilingual in English and Spanish, I found that uh expressions in Spanish tend to be more beautiful and expressions in English tend to be more rich in meaning. Um Sometimes it's, it's quite hard to, to
0:08:51 - 0:09:13, to, to give an adequate parallel of some of the richness of the meaning of the English language, which doesn't surprise anyone that knows anything about in information theory because the larger the vocabulary, the more you information you can express, you can represent. And English is this hodgepodge
0:09:12 - 0:09:31of all these different languages. And so it's, it's almost like a if you, if you, well, I won't go there, let's just get more complicated. It's not good to try to simplify something with a more complicated analogy. But anyway, that's probably good enough. But it turns out that one distinction with Hebrew
0:09:31 - 0:09:57is that Hebrew words have meanings. They, in my opinion, they tend to have more meanings than English words and those meanings. Um So, so you look up a word in English dictionary and it'll have 123 definitions, but often those definitions are quite connected. They're, they're not too far off from each
0:09:56 - 0:10:20other. They're, they're tightly coupled. Often, not always uh with Hebrew, the definitions are just sort of all over the place. And sometimes you look at these definitions and you just wonder how, how on earth did this come to be? And the answer is very interesting. Um because whatever the sources of
0:10:20 - 0:10:45Hebrew, um as a language, which I'll, I'll burst the bubble for anyone who thinks it's the Adamic language. It is not. But um the use of that language over time, even if this wasn't the case with the origin, it actually doesn't matter. But one way or the other over time, the what happened was there were
0:10:45 - 0:11:09people that had a knowledge of God that exceeded the language. They had the words, they had, they had an understanding of God that exceeded the words that they had. And so they bent the words or innovated uh the vocabulary to fit what they already knew about God. Now again, I'm not making a statement
0:11:09 - 0:11:26about how general that was or whatever. But over time, what you'll see is there's a there's an imprint of certain ideas in these words and it's a beautiful thing because you can look at certain words and you'll see for a given word that maybe there are two definitions that don't seem to have anything
0:11:26 - 0:11:45to do with each other. But when you think about it in the context of God, in the gospel, there's a really clear connection between those words and it's rich. It's very rich. It's almost like a sermon in a word. Now, you can take this too far and you can get it wrong, but it is a pattern and it's true
0:11:45 - 0:12:08and it happens. Well, let's get back to the point here. Um, but what, what I want to say though is that many of our English translations fall flat, horrifically, horrifically flat. This one, for instance, what I'm about to tell you, you will not find in any translation of Isaiah 5211. If you go to a
0:12:08 - 0:12:29, um, a parallel uh reference that has a whole bunch of different translations, you're not gonna find what I'm about to tell you, which is on the screen. You could read it if you, uh, if you so desire and we'll get to it in a second here. But, um, these translations, they fall flat in more ways than
0:12:29 - 0:13:00one and very often. So sometimes you get one's pretty good. Um, but most times it's pretty terrible and it, the Greek translations aren't better. So my position on this I'm amazed um with how terrible the translations are. I'm amazed that so many people have extracted so much from the English translations
0:12:59 - 0:13:34or any modern language translation. And excuse me, um One of the reasons I find these translations so insufficient is because I'm reading these texts, knowing something about God from my own experience. And so that helps me um draw uh different insights from the same text and um the assistance and influence
0:13:34 - 0:13:57of the Holy Ghost. As I read it, it makes getting through the scriptures quite an interesting experience for me. And so I spend quite a bit of time um looking these things up and, and uh going through this revelatory process to try to straighten some ideas out in my own head. And then all of that ends
0:13:57 - 0:14:20up getting into my writing. So I just wanted to share this in as an example to kind of suggest this to your minds and hopefully going forward in your own scripture study. You can take a closer look because we as Christians, it's easy to become very familiar with the English wording of these ideas without
0:14:20 - 0:14:44realizing that that is not the source, nor is it the destination? Nor is it the full effect? It's not that it's not the full idea. You're getting a noisy estimate. That's the best you can do from the text. You need the spirit of God and you need to know something about Him and you need to have this uh
0:14:44 - 0:15:08interactive experience to see what lies beyond that where it actually came from and to better understand what the author would tell you if you were having a conversation with them, face to face. So let's, uh, let's take a closer look at this. Um And, and by the way, I, I wanted to mention I use Bible
0:15:08 - 0:15:28hub extensively for this and uh once you pick up some experience with that, it's free. It's just a website. It's got annoying ads, but whatever, um once you pick up some experience with this, you'll, you'll actually start becoming familiar with these words. And what I like about that approach, the way
0:15:27 - 0:15:55, the way I do it at least is um you can, you can focus on the meaning of the words and, and blur out some of the grammatical details and uh in my experience that's been very fruitful. So let's take a look. Um So depart, ye depart, ye go ye out from thence. People assume that what this is talking about
0:15:55 - 0:00:00is Babylon go out from Babylon, you'll see in some translations, people added it. But it doesn't say that in, in Hebrew, that Babylon is not mentioned explicitly. It just um it just says depart. Depart, go ye out from thence. But the thing is is that the word for depart, it, it also means turn away.
0:00:00 - 0:16:47And um that's a really rich idea. It's a theme you'll see all over the place. Um it, what it, what it is is it at its root is that all people are always enticed by one or two, one of two directions and the one direction is towards God and the other direction is away from God. Those are the only two options
0:16:46 - 0:17:11. There's no third option. Now, in each of those ways, there are magnitudes, right? So we're talking about a direction and an intensity. So you can turn towards God or you can turn away from him and you can turn by a certain degree. And that's it. That's one way of categorizing all of life is just you're
0:17:11 - 0:17:32turning away or you're turning towards in all that you do. And so that's a theme that, that accurately describes what's actually going on here. And that's the theme that this is talking about is not actually talking about a place. And this is very important. It's actually one of the themes of the chapter
0:17:32 - 0:17:51, but I don't wanna get beyond this first because I, I want to keep this as concise as possible. Uh But something you should take away from this if you didn't already know is that studying scripture is as deep an activity as you want it to be, you will never run out of material and there will always
0:17:51 - 0:18:14be tremendously important things to learn no matter how long you've been doing it or how much you have learned. In fact, I'd, I'd say that the more you learn the more tremendous what lies ahead of you becomes, it just builds. And that is a property ironically of turning towards God, it just gets bigger
0:18:13 - 0:18:45and better and more important as you go. So turn away, turn away and then go ye out from fence. You could actually render this idea as proceed, which means to improve from where you are. So the location that you're going out from fence, the location you're going out from, it's not a place, it's not Babylon
0:18:44 - 0:19:14. It's, in fact, this chapter talks about uh the Israelites going down to Egypt. Um That's, I think a historical reference in this, in this case, an allusion to um the time Moses, but uh whether that is or isn't, isn't really important. Um This is not a physical or geographical movement. It is a change
0:19:13 - 0:19:34in your ideas and your actions and your desires from where from exactly where you stand from exactly where you stand. So that's where you're turning away from. Well, what direction are you headed in? Because if you're at a point, you can either go ahead or behind. Well, in this case, you're turning towards
0:19:34 - 0:19:58God, you're turning away from where you are in turning toward God and that's improvement. Second idea. Touch. No unclean thing. Go ye out of the midst of her again. It's like go ye out from the midst of Babylon is what people think this means. But uh there's no reference to Babylon in this passage So
0:19:58 - 0:20:20that's just an assumption. And it's not, it's not correct now. It's not bad. So it turns out that Babylon, it is a place, but more importantly, it's a set of ideas. It's a culture, it's a set of beliefs, right? And beliefs always, um, that in form is not strong enough word. Uh They, they dictate our
0:20:20 - 0:20:42actions, our beliefs, dictate our actions. They're, they're tightly coupled. So, um, you'll, you'll get a lot of mileage out of the idea of going out of Babylon. I've heard that talked about a lot. It's great advice. But what this means is a lot plainer than that and a lot more practical because if I
0:20:42 - 0:21:04told you go out from Babylon, you're gonna think of all the horrific quote unquote sins that people do in this world. And you're gonna say, well, I don't do any of those things. So I must already be out of Babylon. Nope, read on dear reader or listen on reach, not for what has no value. That's if you
0:21:04 - 0:21:30look at the Hebrew touch, no unclean thing, you could also translate this to reach, not for what has no value. So don't desire the things that harm you or that don't improve you. In other words, focus on the best you can find in all things, right? So that's not just uh what, what cereal you're gonna
0:21:30 - 0:21:52have for breakfast. Although funny enough that happens to be a go to argument for folks who say, well, God doesn't care about what I do between the hours of nine and five. he just cares about what I do on Sunday morning. No, actually, he really does care about every single thing you do and if you can't
0:21:51 - 0:22:16yet define what God would want you to do in those situations, what God wants you to have for breakfast, then that's a great thing for you to pray about and study on. Because what it's doing is identifying a facet of who and how God is of which you are still ignorant. And you need to go find out what
0:22:16 - 0:22:42, what that is. You need to fill in that hole in your model of who and how God is. And odds are the, the first estimate you make is going to be wrong. But as you test it by living it, you'll find out exactly how you'll see the edges of your expectations and you'll be able to fix those things. All right
0:22:41 - 0:23:12. What about go ye out in the midst of her. Another way of phrasing those Hebrew words is proceed again. That's improvement from what is and those who are common. Now, we got to address a few things first off, if you call someone common, that's super insulting, right? It's super insulting. Um But you
0:23:12 - 0:23:41need to understand holiness means different and better. You can't be average and still be holy. You have to be what's best. Now, the good news is averages are defined mathematically. And um but being like God is not something that is limited to a certain number. Uh Despite what some religions believe
0:23:40 - 0:24:14, God invites all people to Him, all people, he doesn't say, oh sorry, we've reached our cap. We're done. All people are invited to come. And actually an immense amount of preparation and sacrifice occurs. So that at the end of creation, every single person will have to admit that wherever they arrived
0:24:13 - 0:24:46, their, their outcome in life in the afterlife is 100% due to their choice and not any limitation from the environment. It's an extremely important facet of creation. Every single person will have the opportunity to ascend as far as they're willing to receive. It's that simple. So holy means what is
0:24:46 - 0:25:16better? So um when we think of the word unclean, you probably again think of some horrific sin or some specifically prescribed rule in breaking that thing. But that's not actually what it means. It just means common because priests must be holy. They can't do what everyone else does. They have to do
0:25:16 - 0:00:00what's best. So specifically, they have to do what God would do as far as they understand. That's what defines what's, what's better and what's best. There's not some arbitrary metric for that. Um And that's a very, very important concept because what God is, is not a set of arbitrary rules or laws.
0:00:00 - 0:26:20It is a set of behaviors, desires and actions that are perfectly optimized for the greatest level of joy through all eternity, subject to how things really are. That's what God is. He is the best of everything, given how things are. And so the very important um a very important takeaway from this is
0:26:19 - 0:26:45the fact that any time you incline yourself towards improvement in any way, you are also drawing nearer to God, no matter how far from Him, you may currently be taking one step towards what is better is taking one step directly towards God from where you are. It's very important. It's beautiful. It's
0:26:45 - 0:27:12critically important to understand and live. So reach not for what has no value, proceed from what is and those who are common. So from what is common and from those who are common, next part, be clean that bear the vessels of the Lord. So if you look up these Hebrew words, this is a really interesting
0:27:12 - 0:27:40one and we actually uh connect into a different one that I won't take more time on, but you can go look into it yourself. So be ye clean again, you have this unclean and clean parallel, well clean. It means what you think it means. But there are several other uh definitions in Hebrew. And um unfortunately
0:27:39 - 0:28:05, we don't have time to go into all of them. They're all very important. But one of them that in my opinion best applies to the ideas in this passage is this idea of being shiny. And that's funny because uh I don't know anybody that, that talks about Godliness as being shiny. But in my mind, they're
0:28:04 - 0:28:29tightly coupled and I'll tell you why. So did you know that the Hebrew word for praise, the verb? It means to shine is one of the definitions to shine. Praise means to shine. And that's no surprise to me because one, the glory of God is shiny. It's, there's a lot of light, right? Every time it's described
0:28:28 - 0:28:57, his presence is a very bright place. So um that's for one but two, his glory can't be separated from how He is. They are one and the same. He has glory because of how He is and any who is like Him will have glory like He does. There are other verses for this again, I don't wanna take too much time
0:28:57 - 0:29:26with this, but to praise God means to become more like Him. So you shine more like He does. And if you think about what praising is actually doing, praise is something that other people perhaps would see when you praise God, maybe other people see that and you praise God in gratitude towards God. And
0:29:26 - 0:29:48so you hope that God sees that because it's a, it's a thankfulness thing. You're, it's how you show that you're thankful. Well, how can you show gratitude to God in any way that would mean more than being like Him to the extent that He's shown you how he is, which is an incremental thing. But if he shows
0:29:48 - 0:30:14you how he is by giving you 10 commandments, the best thing you can do to praise him is to live those 10 commandments. And the best thing you can do to praise him in the presence of others is to live those 10 commandments. Now with cod living what he has shown you about himself, gives him joy because
0:30:14 - 0:30:42his purpose is for you to become more than you are John 1010 to have life and more abundantly so to have eternal life and to live that eternal life in a state that exceeds your present state. Because you've become more than you used to be, you become more like Him than you used to be. Well, praise towards
0:30:42 - 0:31:08other uh in the presence of other people. Is it for something slightly different? It's to incline them more towards God. In other words, through your demonstration of why it's a good idea to learn more about God, they are persuaded to learn more about and become more like God. And while you can teach
0:31:07 - 0:31:34people about God using only words, and you can do that while you're in a state of willful rebellion from God in other aspects of your life, because you're not yet sinless, you have not yet totally forsaken sin. It is incomparably more effective to become sinless, to actually live completely reconciled
0:31:33 - 0:31:58to everything you understand about God before you try to convince others that it's a good idea. And then all of the sudden, not only do you have words to use, but you have the spirit of God influencing what words you're going to say and carrying those words into the hearts of the people who hear you
0:31:57 - 0:32:35. Because even though they might not be able to explicitly recognize or describe it, your sincerity cannot be hidden because you never say anything that you don't fully believe. And you know, the price you've paid to follow God. And you also know that it wasn't a price at all because it's impossible
0:32:34 - 0:33:11to serve him in a way that He doesn't bless you much more than whatever it costs you. And you can't hide that. But beyond words, you have your very life because your demonstration of God through how you live, your life speaks much more loudly than anything you can say. So make yourselves shiny, praise
0:33:10 - 0:33:42the Lord through living his li living your life as you understand. He would. And then the counterpart for the phrase that bear the vessels of the Lord. So bear that verb in Hebrew. It doesn't just mean to carry, it means to lift up as well and it, it also means to rise. So these are all related ideas
0:33:42 - 0:34:06. So you, you have to pick something up if you're gonna carry it. And those ideas are linked in that Hebrew verb. So arise and bring forth. This is interesting. So vessels, you know, you think of like a, a cup or a plate or something, some you know, vessel, a container, a jar, but it's also linked to
0:34:06 - 0:34:42, to the idea of, of bringing things forward this bearing you pick up and you carry and the vessel, the vessel of the Lord. If you look up this word vessel, it's the same idea as be ye perfect. It's uh completion vessel is, is also the idea of completion. So arise and bring forth the perfection of the
0:34:41 - 0:35:15Lord in yourselves that's in yourself, is, is uh pulling from the idea of all these words together. So make yourselves shiny, arise, so be better yourself and bring forth the perfection of the Lord. How because you're in being shiny in arising, you're, you're becoming more like God and you, as you become
0:35:14 - 0:35:44more like God, you demonstrate how God is more of how God is right to other people. So as some uh as some connecting ideas, I just uh pasted these two fragments from the same chapter as a part of verse one and all of verse two. And this is a King James again. But now that we've gone through this and
0:35:44 - 0:36:08maybe I'll read this unbroken and then I'll read verses one and two and it's partial quote from one. So here's all the things we've been through just put together without the King James, turn away, turn away, proceed from where you are reach not for what has no value proceed from what is and those who
0:36:07 - 0:36:33are common, make yourselves shiny, arise and bring forth the perfection of the Lord in yourselves. And so now here's part of verse one and all of verse two from the King James. And I want you to think about the connections awake, awake. Put on thy strength. O Zion, put on thy beautiful garments. O Jerusalem
0:36:32 - 0:37:02, the holy city, shake thyself from the dust. Arise and sit down o Jerusalem loose thyself from the bands of thy neck. O captive daughter of Zion. Uh There are a lot more ideas in verse one and two and I'll go into those briefly here. But I think this concludes my point with the principle that sometimes
0:37:01 - 0:37:26scripture passages mean two different things at the same time. And this one, in my opinion, you could re read it the King James way or you could read it the way I've given you here or maybe even something else. But um they are, they're both powerful and they both incline you closer to the Lord. So before
0:37:26 - 0:37:52going any further, I just wanna give a, a disclaimer. I don't know Hebrew, I don't know Greek. I know English. I used to know Spanish really well. It's pretty pathetic now. Um But uh my point with saying this is the most important piece of understanding scripture is not a knowledge of language in, in
0:37:52 - 0:38:14the human sense. It's a knowledge of the language of the Lord. And as you get to know him through repenting of all of your sins and seeking him with all of your heart might mind and strength. He will endow you with greater understanding. And as you look into these things or anything, he will enlighten
0:38:13 - 0:38:46your eyes and quicken your mind and you will have a greater understanding of those things even than many experts. So um it's important to not put limits on the Lord and what he can show you. So uh verse one here of Isaiah 52 you get this idea of wakening because you're asleep, right or dead. Because
0:38:45 - 0:39:04awake, you use that when you're in, in scriptures. It's used to talk about people who are coming back to life because they're dead like resurrection, put on your strength with these beautiful garments, well, beauty, anything true, good, beautiful. It comes from God and I really don't have time to get
0:39:04 - 0:39:24into the idea of garments. But the long story short is that as we purify ourselves by living fully according to what God has given us already, he will give us more. And what he gives us is even better than what we have. And you could think about this in terms of putting on a garment that's more beautiful
0:39:23 - 0:39:45than whatever you have or often what you've taken off because many times repentance includes uh or just following God, even if you've already repented and he's giving you new instructions uh often that includes taking away things you already had and that's to make room for things that are better because
0:39:45 - 0:40:06so many things cannot coexist. If there's something in the slot, something else can't squeeze in with it. And if you want, you know, if I, if, if my kids are drinking water and I take out some apple juice, they have to throw that water in the sink before I give them apple juice. So that's the way it
0:40:06 - 0:40:33works. Um And Jerusalem was meant to be a holy city. That's God's uh intent for that place. So, what about this Z in Jerusalem business? Well, a lot of people just use those words interchangeably and that's not wrong. Um I worked for a company once that was in North Carolina and it was a small, relatively
0:40:31 - 0:40:56small company. It was a start up and it had been purchased by a company in, in Indiana. So we called ourselves the same name as the headquarters company and we were the same company, but we were in a completely different place and we had different people and, and maybe that's a good way of describing
0:40:56 - 0:41:18Zion in Jerusalem. In fact, if you look at verse two, this phrase, oh, captive, daughter of Zion, it's a little weird. And you think like daughter, what the heck, what does that even mean? Well, that word doesn't always mean daughter. It, it, it's a, it's an association and it's very ambiguous. It can
0:41:18 - 0:41:44mean daughter and many times, it literally just means daughter. But you could also say, uh for example, branch, you could say branch of Zion. And that's like if you think about a branch of a bank, it's one bank, but it has different locations, right? And uh in this case, there is um a descendancy relationship
0:41:43 - 0:42:09. So I don't want to go into that um for right now. So what about this shake thyself from the dust? That's really interesting. Let's skip over the idea of shaking thyself. Um Although it's important, but dust, um Adam was made from the dust. That word dust in Hebrew is the same one used in Genesis. And
0:42:09 - 0:42:42so um this is the idea that um man has this divine potential, but um human nature is to revert to the dust so extensively that you literally will die and your body will, will um return to the dust. That's another phrase that God used when he described the curse of the fall. And he says, from dust, I
0:42:42 - 0:43:11made you and to dust, you will return. It's a dissociation from a higher order, a greater potential, a divine potential. So we are given this pathway to ascension, but we, we as humans, we tend to turn away from that and embrace the carnal uh drives, we turn away as we said before we turn away from God's
0:43:10 - 0:43:40higher way and we, we turn away from him. Um Anyway, so hopefully, you see in verses one and two, a strong parallel to the same exact ideas we talked about in this rephrasing to, to break the chains around your neck. And what are these chains to? What are you captive? You're captive to the flesh, you're
0:43:40 - 0:44:04captive to human nature. And how do you free yourself from that? Because it's interesting. The command is break your chains. It does not say, it does not say come to me and I will break your chains. It says break your chains. And, and this idea, oh captive daughter of Zion, oh captive branch of Zion
0:44:04 - 0:00:00. He's calling us to now, this is to a specific group of people, but it's fantastic to just apply this. Generally. It's, it's very powerful and useful. He's saying break the chains on your neck because I've called you to a much greater thing. And I've already given you the tools to make this happen.
0:00:00 - 0:44:56And what are those? Turn away? Proceed from where you are reach not for what has no value, proceed from what is and those who are common, make yourself shiny arise and bring forth the perfection of the Lord in yourselves. In plain simple, English, break the chains around your neck by fully adopting everything
0:44:55 - 0:45:16you already understand about how Jesus is. Do that 100% all the time with everything you have to give. And the second you do that, the chains fall, hope you have a great day.
